Objectives of the Position:
Development Support Associate is responsible to assist the Director of Development/Advancement in donor development by assisting with other fundraising events such as the banquet and Walk for Life which will encourage, maintain and increase philanthropic sources of income. Development Support Associate will work with staff, volunteers, churches and our constituency to ensure participation as well as success in attaining established goals.
Development Support Associate is accountable to and under the direct supervision of the Director of Development/Advancement.
Christian with consistent testimony and regular church involvement.
Clear commitment to pro-life cause.
Agreement with the Statement of Faith and Commitment of Care
Dynamic Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledgeable in the use and maintenance of computer data bases.
Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Minimum two years experience human relations skills in non-profit events development or equivalent.
Demonstrable network of local community contacts.
Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, communications or humanities desired.
Self motivated, dependable, creative, resourceful and responsible.
Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
For Fundraising Events (Banquet and Walk) –
*Banquet: Recruit and coach table hosts. Meet with table hosts after they sign up and explain all the expectations for their role. Contact and encourage table hosts each week before the banquet after they sign up.
*Banquet: Prepare the seating chart, guest lists, and table charts.
*Banquet: Schedule and complete all required paperwork
*Banquet: Recruit and coach all volunteers needed for event.
*Walk: Coordinate, recruit and train the team of Volunteer Ambassadors who will also speak at churches/organizations about the Walk.
*Walk: Schedule and complete all required paperwork
*Walk: Schedule Church Presentations with our supportive churches that have young members to recruit registered walkers. Communicate regularly with all Group Leaders and Registered Walkers to encourage more people to register and explain how to utilize the fundraising website tool.
*Walk: Collect prizes from stores for the Walk and ask stores to donate food and water for the event.
*Walk: Recruit and coach all volunteers needed for event.
* Represent BRWC at Community/Church events, Missions Fairs, Schools, and Health Fairs by setting up a display table and telling people about BRWC.
* Roanoke Valley Gives and other community-based development events coordination
*Pray for those you meet with when you are with them.
Development Support Associate position is a part time position (18-20 hours/week but several weeks prior to and during Walk and Banquet it may be 25-30 hours/week) unless determined otherwise by the Development Director and/or the CEO.
Development Support Associate shall receive an annual evaluation by the Director of Development/Advancement and/or the CEO after an initial 90 day performance evaluation.
