Position Title: Communications Coordinator

Reports to: Development Director

The Organization: Over 50% of all pregnancies are unplanned, leaving many women feeling alone and uncertain of her future. By providing a safe environment to be heard and supported, Blue Ridge Women’s Center equips each woman to make an informed decision for her and her family. Blue Ridge Women’s Center is a Christ-centered medical clinic specializing in unplanned pregnancy, relationships and reproductive health. Quality care is provided to all clients for free, regardless of race, religion, income level or circumstances.

Job Summary: The Communications Coordinator plays an integral role in shaping and leading how Blue Ridge Women’s Center is presented to the community, both to the donor and prospective client. How you communicate Blue Ridge Women’s Center to the prospective client is often a woman’s first impression when making a choice for her next step in an unexpected pregnancy. For the donor, sharing our mission is vital to their partnership in reaching women facing an unexpected pregnancy and seeking to learn all her choices.

Essential Job Responsibilities: The Communications Coordinator would be responsible for creating and coordinating all marketing, communications, graphic design, social media and technology-related needs of Blue Ridge Women’s Center. Your duties would include planning with the Development Team and Executive Director, maintaining our brand for BRWC in our community for both donors and clients, and executing the below responsibilities.

Client related responsibilities include:

  • Marketing and advertising
  • Designing and printing brochures, forms and other resources
  • Maintaining social media, local listings and other digital BRWC presences
  • Facilitating updates to the client website with our web developer

Donor related responsibilities include:

  • Marketing and advertising
  • Designing, printing and mailing of informational brochures & event materials
  • Assists Development Director in communicating regularly with donors via email, direct mail, and other avenues
  • Maintaining social media, local listings and other digital BRWC presences
  • Facilitating updates to the donor website with our web developer
  • Assist Development Team with community presence through event attendance, speaking, etc.
  • Assist Development Team with fundraising events
  • Troubleshoot basic computer and IT issues


To apply, you must have one of the following:

  1. A high school diploma and 1-2 years of graphic design, marketing or communications experience
  2. A degree in marketing, graphic design or communications

If you are the right fit for Blue Ridge Women’s Center, you will have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and various social media platforms.

Although not required, you would be considered a more advantageous candidate for the position if you have experience with:

  • Basic HTML coding
  • Basic WordPress knowledge
  • Email software (such as MailChimp)
  • Adobe Create Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign
  • Copywriting

You should be able to carry out the responsibilities with little direct supervision, and be a self-motivated individual who seeks to learn and collaborate with the Development Team. You should be a committed Christian exhibiting a personal relationship with Christ, as evidenced by a consistent Christian walk, regular Bible study and church attendance. This individual must also be in accord with our Statement of Faith and our Commitment of Care and Competence.

The Position: This position is 30-35 hours per week and will be commensurate based on experience and education. Some benefits are available including vacation, paid holidays, sick leave and a semi-flexible work schedule.
